Vacuum
Pressure Impregnation (VPI)
>>VPI
Process<<

| VPI is a process which is a step above
the conventional vacuum system. VPI includes pressure
in addition to vacuum, thus assuring good penetration
of the varnish in the coil. The result is improved mechanical
strength, electrical properties and thermal performance. |

Testing:
After final assembly, the following
tests are made on all transformers before shipment
from the plant. All tests are made in accordance with
the latest revisions of the ANSI C57.91 dry-type transformer
test code:
| • |
Induced
potential tests. |
| • |
Applied
potential tests. |
| • |
Resistance
measurements of all windings on the rated voltage
connections of each unit and at the tap extremes
of one unit of a given rating on an order. |
| • |
Ratio
test on the rated voltage connection and on all
tap connections.
|
| • |
Polarity
and phase-relation tests on the rated voltage
connection. |
| • |
Filament |
| • |
No-load
loss at rated voltage connection. |
| • |
Exciting
current at rated voltage on the rated voltage
connection. |
| • |
Impedance
and load loss at rated current on the rated voltage
connection of each unit and on the tap extremes
of one unit of a given rating on an order. |
| • |
BIL
(Impulse) Test available when requested |
| • |
Other
test available, consult factory. |
| • |
ANSI
oil-type testing performed also. |
Industry
and customer specified qualification tests are performed
on new designs. Records of these tests are maintained
at the factory for transformers manufactured by Neeltran. |
